Brief Description Of Activity

Internship Program
Cumulus Broadcasting Bangor conducts an internship program with local colleges, including The New England School of Communications at Husson College, Bangor, ME, and The University of Maine, Orono, ME. Our Operations Manager contacts the schools via email, phone and flyers and then schedules training for the successful candidates.
During this reporting period, Cumulus Bangor hosted four interns, including three from The New England School of Communications and one from Stone Hill College in Easton, MA. The interns’ duties included (i) assisting the news department with new gathering and story writing, (ii) working with the promotions department on remote broadcasts and contests, (iii) on-air work, including shadowing full-time announcers, and, (iv) writing commercial copy.

Host events/programs sponsored by or on behalf of an community institution relating to careers in broadcasting
On July 13, 2009 and, again on October 6, 2009, Cumulus Bangor gave a tour to AMICUS, a local organization dedicated to challenged children. The station tours were presented by our Promotions Director, who described the function of each office.

On August 4, 2009, Cumulus Bangor gave a tour to students attending the Maine Media Camp in Bangor, ME. The station tour was presented by our Promotions Director, who described the function of each office.

On October 16, 2009, our Production Director served as a guest speaker at the New England School of Communications at Husson College in Bangor, ME, discussing copywriting and production.

On October 29, 2009, our WEZQ Program Director served as a guest speaker to the promotions class at the New England School of Communications at Husson College in Bangor, ME.

Management-level training regarding equal employment opportunity and preventing discrimination
On February 5,2009, our Market Manager, Business Manager and Operations Manager participated in a telephonic FCC EEO training session presented by outside communications counsel to Cumulus Broadcasting.

Host and Participate in Job Fair
On March 26, 2009, Cumulus Bangor hosted a job fair at the Brewer Auditorium in Brewer, ME, soliciting local employers, organizing booth space for exhibitors and promoting the event via on-air announcements. Cumulus Bangor also participated as a local employer. Station participants included our Market Manager, Sales Manager, Operations Manager, Production Directors, Account Executives and On-Air Announcers.

On May 8, 2009, Cumulus Bangor participated in the Maine Employment Resource Spring “Employ Me” Job Fair at the Bangor Career Center. Station participants included our Sales Manager and Operations Manager.
